Overview

Marina Kilintari is a researcher collaborating with the Computational Neuroscience Group of the Institute of Applied and Computational Mathematics, FORTH. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Optics from the Technological Institute of Athens in 2002, her MSc in Optics and Vision from University of Crete in 2006, and her PhD in Brain and Mind Sciences also from University of Crete in 2010. Her doctoral research focused on the functional brain imaging of visual areas involved in the execution of visually guided and memorized movements.

Her methodological approach includes the quantitative autoradiographic 14C-deoxyglucose technique, image analysis, and two-dimensional reconstruction of the local cerebral glucose utilization. Her current research interests include the study of the neuronal circuitry involved in action-execution and action-observation, action understanding through mental simulation, and the attribution of an action to the correct agent.
